‘McGregor is a Big Game Hunter’- Dan Hardy Has An Interesting Prediction For UFC 264

UFC is making its return to the iconic T. Mobile arena after a gap of more than a year with possibly the biggest pay-per-view yet, UFC 264. The headlining match is a blockbuster trilogy between Conor McGregor and Dustin Poirier.

The two lightweight maestros will collide for the second time this year to culminate their epic rivalry that started 7 years ago. This match is perhaps the most polarized match of the year. Many fighters, former fighters and fans alike have divided opinions on the same.

Recently, former UFC fighter Dan Hardy appeared for an interview on Submission Radio. He also presented his views about the upcoming trilogy and had an interesting take when asked to pick his favorite.

“It’s weird because my logical head goes well I think, you know, if they fought ten times, Poirier wins probably 60-70%,” Hardy said. “I think he wins 70% of them. But McGregor is a big game hunter.”

“These are kind of moments he shines and I don’t know there is something in my head. I just feel like McGregor is gonna come in looking very sharp and he is gonna show the depth in talent that he has got in comparison to Poirier,” Hardy added.
Hardy harks back to the wins the ‘Notorious‘ one got against Nate Diaz and Jose Aldo. He also opines that the Irishman is too good a fighter to repeat the same mistake against Poirier.

“I am leaning towards McGregor. It feels like an illogical decision but I just kind of feel like, these are the occasions, which he rises to,” Hardy concluded.

McGregor (22-5) hasn’t been as regular to the ring lately as he used to before. His last outing against Poirier at UFC 257 resulted in a TKO loss. That was a first of a kind of loss for him.
Prior to that, he made a successful return to the ring against Donald Cerrone at UFC 246. He knocked him out just 40 seconds into round 1.
Poirier, as mentioned, defeated McGregor in his last match. Prior to that, he defeated Dan Hooker via unanimous decision in an instant classic 5 rounder.
The match is going to be one of the biggest of the year and the winner will surely contest for the lightweight title next. The stakes can’t get higher than this.
