Former Love Island contestant Chuggs Wallis has revealed his surprise over Rachel Finni choosing Brad McClelland over himself in last night’s tense episode of the dating show.

Viewers finally found out who Rachel decided to couple up with out of Brad and Chuggs after Sunday’s cliffhanger, with Rachel on the verge of tears over the decision.

In the end, Rachel chose to go with Brad, with bucket hat company owner Chuggs becoming the second person to exit this year’s series.

Now the 23-year-old from Surrey has opened up about how he felt about Rachel choosing to couple up with Brad instead of him.

‘I know she was very torn. Brad’s a gorgeous boy. I don’t blame her for picking him,’ he said in his exit interview.

Chuggs explained that Rachel had said to him that she understood he hadn’t had a chance to make a connection with anyone, whereas Brad had already been in there for a week.

This is what led him to believe he was in with a chance of staying.

‘When she was saying her speech about values being aligned, I was thinking, that could be me. But no, it wasn’t meant to be,’ he said.

‘Obviously, she’s a gorgeous girl. When I was getting to know her, she was really interesting to talk to. We had stuff in common, our values were in line.’

Chuggs said that if he had been chosen to stay, he believes he and Rachel would have gotten along ‘really well’.

‘I was envisioning all these nice things I would have done for her the next day, relax a bit together and chat,’ he said.

‘We could have developed our relationship whether romantically or as a friendship – it was just early days.’

Despite all of this, he said wasn’t surprised to be in the bottom two, saying he ‘didn’t really have a thing’ with anyone in the villa.

Later in the episode new couple Rachel and Brad were intimate with each other when the lights went out, kissing before the action continued under the duvet.

‘I need to calm down otherwise I might get in trouble,’ Rachel said as she propped herself up on her pillow.

The next day while getting ready with the other girls in the dressing room, Rachel admitted that she and Brad were ‘dry humping each other’, describing it as ‘really, really sexy’.

Love Island continues tonight at 9pm.
