Denise Welch has accused the Government of holding ‘double standards’ after it was announced that the Wimbledon finals will go ahead at full capacity while she still can’t visit her sick dad.

The TV presenter has learned that she’s unable to see her father, who has been in hospital for 14 weeks, despite her receiving both doses of the Covid-19 vaccination.

However, she’s even more irked after it was confirmed that the Wimbledon finals will welcome guests at full capacity later this month.

Speaking on Tuesday’s Loose Women, Denise said: ‘I come to the show today and only heard 10 minutes before we came on air that my dear dad, who is in his 14th week in hospital, is now in a sort of community hospital which is much smaller and lovely and I feel very safe with him there.

‘We’ve just heard that the NHS Trust in the north east have stopped visiting again.’

She added: ‘I was talking to one of the nurses and she’s really upset because she doesn’t want it to happen, there is no Covid in my dad’s hospital.

‘I am at the point now where I think, what does my double jab mean? What does it mean if I am double jabbed and my dad is double jabbed?’

Her co-host Gloria Hunniford suggested that it was best the country ‘move forward with caution’ once lockdown restrictions are almost entirely eased on July 19 aka Freedom Day.

However, Denise argued: ‘So when does it end Gloria?

‘July 19 personally doesn’t change things for me… It’s the fact that again we’re back to football and tennis, what about social distancing? They’ve had their freedom for weeks now, but the theatres, for example, haven’t.’

Janet Street-Porter weighed in: ‘I would agree with Denise that it’s been announced that the Wimbledon final’s going to be full capacity before July 19. There is a double standard at work here.’

More: Coronavirus

Denise supported her and agreed: ‘Completely.’

It comes just weeks after Denise first revealed her plight about her father’s health ordeal. The former soap star accused the Government of ‘hypocrisy’ and a ‘cover-up’.

Loose Women airs weekdays at 12:30pm on ITV.
