Nintendo Switch OLED UK price is £310 – £30 more than original model

GAME has become the first retailer in the UK to offer the Nintendo Switch OLED for pre-order and in so doing revealed its price.
Nintendo’s reveal of its new Switch model has been an unnecessarily confused affair, with no prior warning that they were going to announce anything and the console itself turning to have exactly the same hardware as the original and Switch Lite models.
Up until now it wasn’t even clear how much it will cost in the UK, with only the US price of $350 as anything to go by. But GAME, at least, have it up for pre-order for £309.99.
That’s £30 more than the standard version and £80 more than the Switch Lite, which is handheld only. All three models have the same specs though and the Switch OLED isn’t really what people were expecting from the rumoured Switch Pro.
GAME has both the console colours up for pre-order, both white and neon, as well as a range of bundles including either Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Animal Crossing: New Horizons or Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury.
The bundles cost £349.99 each, which represents a saving of £5 if you buy game and console together. Although these are unofficial bundles and nothing to do with Nintendo.

We’ll have to wait and see if other UK retailers sell the console at the same price but it’s very likely that they will, which means the new console’s benefits – primarily a superior handheld screen and a LAN socket in the dock – are coming at a reasonable price.
Some will no doubt still accuse the console of being little more than a stealth price rise, although that accusation will largely depend on whether Nintendo intends to continue selling the original model.
