Seven Chelsea transfer alternatives for Achraf Hakimi after he joins PSG including Adama Traore and Kieran Trippier

Chelsea have lost the battle with Paris Saint-Germain to sign Inter Milan right wing-back Achraf Hakimi this summer.

But could they now turn their attentions elsewhere? And is this position still seen as a priority for the club?

Hakimi was involved in a transfer saga between Chelsea and PSG – and depending on which report you read, it looks like Inter preferred PSG’s straight cash offer.

Whatever the situation, Chelsea have seemingly been prioritising a new wide player this summer, with Thomas Tuchel seeing Reece James as more of a right-sided centre-back rather than a wing-back.

So if Chelsea still want a right-sided player this summer, here are some potential options.

Adama Traore

Hakimi was a long-term target for the club, but another player who’s been mentioned is Wolves star Adama Traore.

Whether you agree with this pursuit or not, it’s clear there’s at least interest from Chelsea.

Traore brings directness and pace, as well as great physical attributes for the Premier League.

He has the ability to hit the byline and produce a cross or create a chance for the attackers – his threat on the counter-attack will be immense.

But is he really needed?

Tino Livramento

Some say he isn’t ready for the first team yet, but I’ve watched a lot of Livramento over the last couple of seasons and I’d have no worries if he came into the first-team squad as that extra wide man.

He is built for wing-back and his energy and direct style would be adored by Tuchel, who clearly likes him already having had him involved in training and on the bench last season.

It all depends on what Tuchel wants, whether he wants back-up for James at right wing-back or someone to come in and play there regularly, which you’d imagine Hakimi would’ve done.

So who else could do this?

Nelson Semedo

Semedo is another Wolves player who’s been whispered as an option for Chelsea.

He certainly brings a lot of quality and experience for the role, including a good season in the Premier League.

But Semedo has a long contract taking into account the option to extend, so I can’t see this being feasible.

Traore is much more realistic.

Joshua Kimmich

Now this is massively unrealistic and would be near impossible to pull off.

But if Chelsea really want to go all out and prioritise a right wing-back, then the Germany international would be your man.

But as I say VERY unrealistic – and Chelsea appear to prioritise other targets, such as a striker and defensive midfielder.

Kieran Trippier

I rate Trippier.

I know he’s ageing, but if Chelsea want a right wing-back to come in and compete, give them something extra for a few seasons, then he isn’t a bad option.

He would be a cheaper option, too, and someone who has been linked with a return to England this summer, so it could be an option worth exploring.

Fabian Centonze

The French league is certainly a market worth looking at, with some bargains ready to snap up.

And Metz right wing-back Fabian Centonze is a great option.

He is a solid, hard-working player who is great at defending and has a lot to offer going forward – perhaps a good wildcard option on this list.

Leo Dubois

Staying in France and looking at relatively unknown potential bargains, Lyon’s Leo Dubois is also another very interesting shout.

He’s the epitome of a great modern day full-back with an excellent attacking threat and dangerous cross.

The 26-year old has been capped seven times for France, too, and has good experience.

I’m still not sure a right wing-back is a priority for Tuchel and the club this summer, though, but it’s certainly worth keeping an eye on potential developments here.
