Daniel Ricciardo Reveals What is Truly ‘Holding Me Back’ at McLaren F1
McLaren driver Daniel Ricciardo is having a tougher time at the British team than he expected. He has been struggling to find the maximum performance from his car. He has tried different things but still cannot match the pace of his young teammate Lando Norris.
The Aussie driver has made some progress in the races and put on his trademark overtaking master classes. But he has lagged behind Norris in qualifying this season as he has just out-qualified Norris three times in 9 races.

In races, it is an even more worrying tale as Ricciardo is 61 points behind his teammate in the championship. But Aussie driver may have found some answers for his struggles at McLaren.

I think what we’ve discovered is I’ve made progress: Daniel Ricciardo
As reported by Racefans, Daniel is confident that he has made progress in understanding his car. But admitted that he has still not found all the answers to unlock his potential in the car.
“There’re some answers. I think what we’ve discovered is I’ve made progress,” said Ricciardo.

Daniel also mentioned why he is unable to perform at his best this season, “It just now needs to come still with more subconscious energy, [there] is still a lot of thought going into it.
And although I’ve made progress, there’s still a lot of energy being consumed to make this progress. So maybe that is now holding me back from finding the edge in the car,” said Ricciardo.

The Aussie is confident that his performance will come soon
Ricciardo is upbeat that in the next races, he will a massive boost in his performances. He needs to qualify in the Q3 consistently to challenge his team and finish in points. But like ever, the Aussie is optimistic that all he needs is a couple of clean weekends.
“We’ll still keep looking into it, see what we can do as well, with setup and improve some things, but I just have to keep positive and try to enjoy it,” said Ricciardo.
