On-the-run man arrested after couple killed in ‘execution’ at Puerto Rican Day Parade

A MAN, who was on the run, has been arrested after a couple was gunned down in an “execution-style” killing at a Puerto Rican Day Parade.

Yasmin Perez, 25, and her partner Gyovanny Arzuaga, 24, were ambushed following the celebrations in Chicago last month.

Cops arrested and charged Anthony Lorenzi, 34, with first-degree murder, and is waiting to be extradited to Chicago.

He was arrested in the parking lot of an apartment complex in San Diego on Friday, cops said.

Cops said Lorenzi fled to San Diego the morning after Yasmin and Gyovanny were shot at the parade, MailOnline reports.

In the clip shared by Fox32 the couple were pulled from their vehicle and shot after Gyovanny’s family said he had rear-ended a parked car.

A Puerto Rican flag was being displayed from a dark SUV.

Cops were called to the scene and confirmed that a “minor crash” had occurred in the moments before the shooting.

The motive of the shooting remains unknown.

Gyovanny was shot in the head, hip, and thigh while Yasmin suffered gunshot wounds to her neck. She died days later.

‘EXECUTION-STYLE’

Chicago police Chief of Detectives Brendan Deenihan said Gyovanny was shot “almost execution-style” after he came to his girlfriend’s aid.

Lorenzi is charged with Gyovanny’s death.

Jae Pacheco, a friend of the couple, said their love story was “so cute”.

She told the Sun-Times: “I thought it was so cute. They first met each other at a party and it was over with from there.

“They fell in love with each other and they spent years together. They made a family together.”

Chicago mayor Lori Lightfoot said at the time she would track down those involved in the shooting.

She warned: “You know who you are. People know who you are.”

A GoFundMe page has since been created to help the family.
