Dexter’s Jennifer Carpenter is set to return from the dead in the new reboot.

The actress, who played Dexter’s sister Debra for eight seasons, was dramatically killed off in the 2013 series finale but will be reappearing alongside fellow deceased character Trinity Killer Arthur Mitchell (played by John Lithgow) according to reports.

Jennifer had previously discussed the possibility of stepping back into the role of Debra.

‘[It would take] an extraordinary script many, many, many years from now,’ she told The Hollywood Reporter. ‘I don’t know if that’s possible because people don’t come back from the dead.’

Jennifer’s co-star John recently teased the capacity in which the slayed characters would be reappearing.

‘As all Dexter fans know, we saw the end of the Trinity Killer, so that by definition means it’s a flashback,’ he said in an interview with Deadline.

‘It was just wonderful to rejoin that gang—including Michael and Jennifer Carpenter and [showrunner] Clyde Phillips.’

Speaking of Showtime’s anticipated 10 episode revival, John added: ‘They don’t take it into a different era, but it’s in a different part of the world, a different part of the country, and a whole new cast of characters.

‘There are all sorts of wonderful surprises and callbacks from the first few seasons.’

It was announced in October that Michael C Hall will reprise his famed role as Dexter Morgan, the moonlighting serial killer whose day job is as a blood spatter expert within the local police department for the revival.

Although plot details remain firmly under wraps, new cast member Jamie Chung has teased that the upcoming reboot will be ‘darker’ than previously seen, and boy, are we ready.

Dexter will begin airing on November 7 on Showtime in the US.
