Interesting that @Venuseswilliams seems to be suggesting Papa Williams is a regular in practice. Amazing! I can relate with the culture that you’re never too old to tap from some parental wisdom. Bless them. pic.twitter.com/SkXhhqnzJM

Venus Williams faced disappointment at the 2021 Wimbledon Championship

Venus Williams kicked off her 2021 Wimbledon Championship campaign in style. The former World No. 1 recorded her 90th Grand Slam win in the first round of the tournament. However, the senior Williams’ sister couldn’t keep up against 23-year-old Ons Jabeur and lost her next game in straight sets. A disappointed Venus then turned her focus to the mixed-doubles event where she paired up with Australia’s Nick Kyrgios.

The crowd expected thorough entertainment in the pair’s first match and it was delivered. However, Nick had to retire from the tournament because of an abdominal injury shortly after, and it was a disappointing tournament for the former Wimbledon Champion.
