Available from dyson.com for £599.99, it doesn’t come cheap – but is packed with tech.

The new Dyson Purifier Hot+Cool Formaldehyde now includes “solid state formaldehyde sensing, fully-sealed HEPA 13 standard filtration and 20% quieter airflow projection” for a cleaner home environment – but what does that all mean?

The new improved fan has been designed to capture ultrafine dust and allergens, and now even can destroy poetentially dangerous VOCs including formaldehyde.

A colourless gas pollutant, formaldehyde is released by furniture and wooden products containing formaldehyde-based resins like plywood and fibreboard, insulating materials and do-it-yourself products such as paint, wallpapers, varnishes and household cleaning products.

It’s 500 times smaller than particles of the size 0.1 microns and is difficult o capture, but can become dangerous if left too long prolonged exposure due to continuous release of airborne chemicals known as off-gassing.

Dyson’s Purifier Hot+Cool Formaldehyde also uses a solid-state formaldehyde sensor that works alongside their unique algorithm to precisely monitor these formaldehyde levels – whilst other gases are monitored by a dedicated VOC sensor.

Alex Knox, Vice President of Environmental Care at Dyson said: “The off-gassing tendency of formaldehyde means that it can go undetected in a home for years. Dyson has engineered a machine that provides accurate and successful sensing, capture and destruction of the pollutant.

DysonIt’s also 20 per cent quieter than previous fans[/caption]

“Our solid-state sensor doesn’t dry out overtime, lasting the lifetime of the machine. The COVID-19 pandemic has raised global awareness about the air that we breathe and Dyson’s commitment to providing cleaner air through innovation and technology remains at the forefront of our mission.”

All this means that the Dyson’s Purifier Hot+Cool Formaldehyde removes 99.95% of particles as small as 0.1 microns, and is 20 per cent quieter too.

You can buy the new Dyson’s Purifier Hot+Cool Formaldehyde from dyson.com for £599.99.
