My baby boy bled and I had to wrap him in cling film until £4 cream ‘cured’ his eczema

A mum left heartbroken as her baby boy battled bleeding eczema has hailed the £4 cream that finally soothed his pain.

GPs were left baffled by little Freddie’s oozing sores and bright red skin, which began to flare up when he was just a few months old.

More than 50 visits to the doctor did nothing to help, and sometimes made things worse with prescribed creams.

His mum, Courtney, tried to keep his sensitive skin protected with bandages and cling film but couldn’t alleviate his pain.

The 24-year-old said: “Other people do give you looks.

“They don’t realise how hard you’re trying.” 

The youngster was irritable and often unable to sleep due to his constant pain.

These sleepless nights lasted for over a year for the family.

Eventually Courtney’s mum suggested using Childs Farm moisturiser, and within four days Freddie’s skin cleared up.

He quickly became happier and less irritable, after his skin was less sore and is now a chirpy three-year-old.

Now the family have a routine where they slather Freddie in the product every morning and evening – with the tot even able to enjoy bubble baths.

Courtney said: “It makes me feel happier knowing that he’s more comfortable.

“As a mum, I know we hate seeing our children in pain. Seeing him comfortable and confident has made me comfortable and confident.

“There’s no question I’ll be recommending Childs Farm to other families that have skin problems like Freddie’s. I wouldn’t want anyone to have to go through what we went through with him.”

Eczema is a skin condition that causes dry and irritated skin.

Experts have said the key to treating eczema is to moisturise.

Speaking to The Sun, Dr Jennifer Crawley, dermatologist and Childs Farm consultant highlighted the key signs to look out for.

These include itchy skin, dry and sensitive skin, inflamed or discoloured skin, rough, thickened or scaly patches of skin, oozing or crusting and areas of swelling.

She added: “To prevent flare ups moisturise, moisturise, moisturise! Prevention is always the best method when it comes to skin sensitivity, so ensure you’re taking good care of yourself with a consistent and thorough skincare regimen.

“My top tip to combat dryness and areas of dry skin is to ensure you nourish and hydrate your skin with moisturiser. Pay special to the hands, but also the lips and feet.

“Also look out for products that have natural ingredients.”
