Khabib Nurmagomedov Foresees No Fights for Henry Cejudo at Flyweight and Bantamweight in the UFC
In a sport such as MMA where most legends are forced to retire on the back of multiple losses, Henry Cejudo was one of the very few people who had the privilege of going out on top. ‘Triple C’ retired in 2020 after stopping Dominick Cruz and defending his bantamweight belt. Becoming one of the very few people to not only win a belt in two different weight classes but also defend it.
The decision perplexed many given Cejudo was just entering his prime and had a lot of time left in the sport. Cejudo was adamant that he wanted to retire on top, just as he did with wrestling. And that is exactly what he did. However, he has never shied away from the fact that he would return to fight once again for the right opportunity and at the right price.
In a recent interview, Khabib Nurmagomedov was asked what should be next for Henry Cejudo. ‘The Eagle’ shared his thoughts on the matter and said, “I think they need someone become like good like big star. Win a couple of times, bring something. He (Cejudo) can bring so much to the table. I don’t think anyone in bantamweight or flyweight can bring so much like him to the table. Because when he gonna go to the cage he’s going to bring Olympic gold medal, Flyweight and bantamweight belt. What they gonna bring?”
‘Triple C’ shared his thoughts on what he wanted next. He said, “You know what I would love? If it was up to me Khabib? I would love to fight for another belt, legacy…. Or money. I don’t mind fighting Petr Yan in Russia if they pay me right.”

Could we see Henry Cejudo make a comeback?
Cejudo has always been very adamant about making a comeback and fighting at featherweight to become the only person to have won belts in three divisions in the UFC. However, given that he does not intend on defending it and just wants one fight to secure a third belt, it is unlikely that the UFC will allow him to do that.
However, if one of the bantamweights can win the belt, and defend it a few times in dominant fashion, it might tempt ‘Triple C’ back into action.
