The 2020 Tokyo Olympics was set to finish on a high as athletes entered their final battles for a medal. The tournament had garnered world attention all along, courtesy of its extravagance and glamor. Tennis fans, in particular, were loving life as the competition got fierce with every outing, as players battled their absolute best for the ultimate glory. Undoubtedly, the highlight so far was the semi-final loss of Novak Djokovic. However, not being limited by it, the Serb now played for Bronze against Spain’s Pablo Carreño Busta.
The wounds from last evening’s shocking defeat were still pretty fresh for Novak; so much so, it even showed in his game. Off-balance and out of focus, Novak struggled to find his footing on-court. As a result, he was down the first set within an hour’s worth of play. Arguably, the Spaniard wasn’t going to let go of his lead so easily. Playing with his heart on his sleeve, he fought hard in the second set, taking the game to a tie-breaker. However, what came following in the decider was shocking was an emotional Pablo, in disbelief of what he just pulled off.

Pablo’s remarkable performance will surely have won him fans from all over the globe. With relentless attack and tactful mind-games, he made Djokovic run all around the court. Needless to say, this will go down as one of the most memorable games in the history of the Olympics.

Animated Novak Djokovic
Despite playing at his absolute best, Pablo Busta whitewashed Djokovic in straight sets. Eventful to say the least, this was the most animated Djokovic had been in a while. Refraining to shy away from his feelings, the World No. 1 embraced everything head-on. Not just his dreams of an Olympic medal, but also his racquets were broken and thrown.
The chair umpire issue a warning to Novak towards this end of the game; Notably, one of mashing his racquet. However, in a rather lenient move from the umpire, Novak was no issues a warning for throwing his racquet into the stand. Pablo questioned the decision and protested the call as more drama continued. Regardless, the game eventually found its natural conclusion, as Pablo Carreno Busta won the bronze medal at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
