WATCH: Melsik Baghdasaryan Flatlines Opponent With a Brutal Headkick at UFC Fight Night-Hall vs Strickland

UFC Vegas 33 takes place at the UFC Apex and will be headlined by a middleweight clash between Sean Strickland and Uriah Hall. The card was initially set to feature 15 fights. However, a host of cancelations have meant that the card is now down to 10 fights. The main card featured a fight between two newbies in Melsik Baghdasaryan who took on Collin Anglin

Anglin made his UFC debut on Dana White’s Contender Series against Muhammadjon Naimov in September 2020. The fight against Baghdasaryan was just his second outing with the UFC. The result, however, did not go his way as he was stopped in round two of the fight by the Baghdasaryan.

Melsik Baghdasaryan makes a statement at UFC Vegas 33

The fight started off well for both men. Baghdasaryan was understandably slow, to begin with given that this was his first fight in the UFC. However, as the fight went on, Baghdasaryan started to pick up the pace. ‘The Gun’ picked up pace towards the end of round one and looked comfortable as his shots started to land with a pop.

The finishing sequence came in the second round. ‘The Gun’ landed a left high-kick that dropped his opponent to the floor. As soon as Anglin hit the floor, Baghdasaryan pounced on him and landed a barrage of punches. Before he could inflict too much damage, the referee stepped in and called the fight. That was the end of the fight and the first win in the UFC for ‘The Gun’.

Over the course of the fight, ‘The Gun’ landed an impressive 51 total strikes with an accuracy of 62%. He also landed an impressive 44 significant strikes with an accuracy of 59%. Baghdasaryan was taken down once during the fight but was able to get back to his feet with relative ease. Displaying a well-rounded game in his second UFC outing.

With the win, Baghdasaryan extended his win streak to 6-0. He is now undefeated since March 2019. ‘The Gun’ made his UFC debut on Dana White’s Contender Series with a win over Dennis Buzukja in 2020 and has now secured a second win in the UFC tonight.
