Piers Morgan stokes bitter David Walliams feud as he slates Little Britain star for ‘liking’ nasty tweets

Piers Morgan is adding another log to his apparently fiery feud with David Walliams, accusing the Little Britain star of ‘liking’ nasty tweets about him.

It’s not the first time the former Good Morning Britain presenter has shared his thoughts about David, after he previously branded him a ‘treacherous piece of work’ in a scathing takedown.

But with the polarising journalist causing a stir after sharing his hot take on Simon Biles pulling out of several gymnastic events at the Olympics last week to focus on her mental health, Piers is seemingly keeping tabs on the social media actions of those in high places.

On Sunday he wrote on Twitter: ‘Always fascinating to see high-profile people that I know quite well ‘liking’ nasty tweets about me … presumably thinking they can do it on the sly and I won’t notice.

‘I always notice, and file away for a rainy day.’

Ominous.

When one of Piers’s followers suggested David was ‘a prime culprit’, Piers replied: ‘The absolute worst!’

Over the past week, Britain’s Got Talent judge David has liked a series of various tweets – and when it came to Piers he had liked one from someone who celebrated being blocked by Piers, as well as another from David Harewood which read: ‘I’d put money on it that there’s not a single child in the country who would tell you that when they grow up, they want to be like Piers Morgan.’

Of course Piers’s tweet set off his followers, who quizzed him on why he would care whether high-profile punters agreed with him or not, to which the former tabloid editor said: ‘I don’t mind them disagreeing, in fact I like that. I do mind them endorsing nasty little tweets if they’re all over me like a cheap rash when we meet, or ask me for favours.

Conversely, it’s also fascinating to see which high-profile people ‘like’ nice tweets about me. They all get noticed too, and those people go on a different list.

‘Then their treachery gets filed for a rainy day when they least want me to return the ‘support’.’

Quizzed on this ‘support’, Piers – who didn’t refer to David in any other tweets – explained ‘they beg me to do their podcast (to get it traction) or something, telling me how wonderful I am… then I catch them ‘liking’ nasty tweets about me, revealing their true duplicitous colours’.

Cricketer Kevin Pietersen chimed in and claimed he’d ‘caught a few like this’, adding: ‘Highly amusing when they ask you for something down the line, or come and say hello with a big smile on their face – BLANK THEM!’

Piers replied: ‘They must think we’re either blind or suffering from acute amnesia.’

On the other side of the support bench, Piers praised those who ‘liked’ nicer messages about him.

‘Conversely, it’s also fascinating to see which high-profile people ‘like’ nice tweets about me. They all get noticed too, and those people go on a different list,’ he said, as things started to appear very Godfather-esque, adding ‘If this all sounds very Sicilian, it’s meant to be.’

While David has kept any potential feud with Piers on the down low, his apparent foe hasn’t held back after previously saying he was offered the chance to return to BGT and replace Simon Cowell after he broke his back.

Claiming he refused to do it as long as David’s on the panel, Piers told Sunday Mirror: ‘I do have conversations with BGT every now and again, particularly after Simon had his injury.

‘But I couldn’t work with Walliams. I think he is a duplicitous, treacherous, piece of work.’

‘He is one of those people who says one thing to your face and then sticks it to you behind your back,’ he continued.

‘If he was sitting there I wouldn’t be interested. But if he wasn’t sitting there, who knows?’

Piers later joked that he wanted to sack David himself, and offered him the advice of ‘sticking to writing childrens’ books.’

There has been no love lost between David and Piers for years, with Piers claiming the pair simply ‘don’t respect’ each other.

When the Little Britain comedian was announced as host last year’s National Television Awards in January, Piers added him to the long list of reasons he refused to go, at the time saying David ‘made his skin crawl’.
