Marko Has Bad News for Max Verstappen Ahead of Belgian F1 Grand Prix

It was another horrible weekend for Max Verstappen at the Hungarian Grand Prix. The Dutch driver was hoping to redeem himself from the events at Silverstone, but as soon as he headed into turn one; those dreams were shattered.

As all the drivers hastily made their way into turn one, Valtteri Bottas lost control of his Mercedes and hit Verstappen and his teammate, Sergio Perez. The latter wasn’t so lucky, as he was out of the race, but Verstappen carried on even with significant damage on his car.

The damage caused the Milton-Keynes-based outfit to possibly bring in a new engine for the Red Bull prodigy but would also see them take a grid penalty for the upcoming Belgium Grand Prix. However, team advisor Dr. Helmut Marko would like to have an investigation before they draw a conclusion.

Marko is hopeful that Max Verstappen’s engine can be salvaged for Belgium

It hasn’t been a good fortnight for the Dutch driver, as his race at Silverstone came to an end after a horrific crash, that wrecked his car. Now in Budapest, another accident saw his car sustain some damage due to his collision with Bottas.

The Raging Bulls are concerned if they would have to replace the engine, which would see them get a grid penalty for the race at Spa. But, Marko is optimistic is hoping that they can save the Honda engine and avoid the penalty.

The Austria boss said, “The engine was no longer usable and we still have to investigate whether it can be saved. At the moment we have to assume that we will have to put in a fourth engine, which means that we will have a grid penalty. The damage is the result of the crash at Silverstone.”

A weekend to forget for Red Bull

The Milton-Keynes-based outfit were looking to bounce back after the events at Silverstone, two weeks ago. However, it didn’t quite go their way from the opening lap itself.

As the pack of drivers headed into turn one at Hungaroring, Bottas locked up, hit the McLaren of Lando Norris, and in a matter of seconds, the Finn hit Perez and Verstappen.

The Mexican was out of the race, whereas Verstappen had sustained major damage to his car. In the Dutch driver couldn’t;t salvage his team’s weekend, but came home to take tenth place. He soon moved up a place, as Sebastian Vettel was under investigation and soon disqualified from the race.

Now, Verstappen & Co would use the summer break, to analyze and come back stronger from the next round. They would be hoping to make an impact in Spa, possibly grab a win, and put the events of Silverstone and Hungary behind them.
