NASCAR Legend Dale Earnhardt Jr Announces Great News for iRacing Fans
The iRacing simulation video game is a popular choice for a number of NASCAR drivers. Now things are about to get even better, as the game has added a new update. According to former NASCAR driver Dale Earnhardt Jr, the Hickory Motor Speedway will be added to the game.
Dale Jr is the iRacing executive director, so he is definitely the go-to person for updates on the game. When he dropped the news, a few drivers reacted positively. Among them were Myatt Snider, Anthony Alfredo, Ty Majeski and Garrett Smithley. One fan even asked about adding the Slinger Speedway and Dale Jr confirmed that that was in the works.

Obviously, this will be very exciting for the fans because many of them are fond of the track. In fact, it is known as the “world’s most famous short track” and the “Birthplace of the NASCAR Stars”. So it is little wonder that the short track’s inclusion was so well-received.
What is Dale Earnhardt Jr up to now?
Dale Jr is happily retired and content with running his Xfinity team, JR Motorsports. The outfit has enjoyed three Xfinity Series championship wins in 2014, 2017 and 2018. During those years, Chase Elliott, William Byron and Tyler Reddick clinched the championship. Occasionally, Dale Jr comes on for a cameo or two at select races, but they are few and far in between.

Even though he is semi-retired, when he does step into the car, he delivers decent performances. In fact, since 2011, he has not finished lower than 15th and has 16 Top 5 finishes including a win. Speaking of that win, it came in the 2016 season at the Richmond Raceway and it was his last ever win in the Xfinity series. This season, Dale Earnhardt Jr is expected to race at the Go Bowling 250 at the Richmond Raceway on September 11th.
