Harry Potter star Jessie Cave is terrified of clothes fittings after a costume director suggested she needed to lose weight.
The 34-year-old actress refused to name the project she was working on at the time but admitted the actions of the member of staff left her deeply hurt and upset when they grabbed her stomach to indicate the need to drop some pounds.
She told The Observer: ‘It was just horrible. And I laughed. You’re like: “Oh, you’re hurting me. Actually, it’s fine.” That kind of stuff stays with you. Now I go into the costume fitting for any job and I’m terrified.
‘I’m prepared to be told something unkind. You’re treated like a different type of thing; you’re not somebody with feelings who has thought about what pants they’re going to wear that day because they’re going to be seen.
‘Now when they’re nice to me, and they are sensitive to how I may be feeling about my body, or that I may be breastfeeding or whatever, I almost cry.’
She added that she considered losing weight after the incident and acknowledged she tends to get parts when she is a smaller size.

The star, who is known for playing Lavender Brown in the Harry Potter films, says that while she eats healthily and is a ‘normal-sized woman’, she feels she is considered a ‘fat’ actress.
Last month, Jessie claimed she was treated like a ‘different species’ on the set of Harry Potter after putting on weight.
She told The Independent: ‘I gained a lot of weight after doing Harry Potter.
‘I wasn’t starving myself. I was growing up and people tend to gain weight as they get older. That’s just what happens. So I did.

‘And so going back to the last film[s], I was treated like a different species.’
The comedienne added that it was a time when actresses were no ‘bigger than a size eight’ and says she felt ‘not as relevant’ and ‘invisible’ due to the change in her size.
