Sam Quek was forced to make an ‘emergency’ outfit change while hosting BBC Olympics Breakfast due to a mishap caused by the green screen in the background.
Throughout the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, English former field hockey player Sam has proven a massive hit presenting the coverage alongside Dan Walker, with some viewers calling for her to join BBC Breakfast permanently.
Early on Friday morning, Dan shared a behind-the-scenes look on Twitter of their studio, showing Sam saluting and posing playfully on a chair while wearing a pair of red trousers, a white blouse and a pair of heels.
‘We are in position for #OlympicBreakfast and we all sorts for you today @SamanthaQuek @BBCSport,’ he wrote in the caption.
However, in a second tweet, Dan revealed that Sam had to undergo a rapid change of clothes, as her white top wasn’t suitable for the green screen behind her.
‘Emergency change for @samquek The white blouse was causing havoc with the virtual background,’ Dan wrote, alongside a cry-laughing emoji.
The presenter shared a photo of his co-host now dressed in a blue blouse to go with her red trousers and heels.
‘She is now fully #TeamGB,’ he added, sharing a picture of Sam looking extremely patriotic in her blue and red ensemble.
Earlier today, BBC Sport shared a behind-the-scenes look at Dan and Sam’s studio, explaining to viewers that while some people may believe they’re reporting live from Tokyo, they’re actually in a studio in Salford.
‘So the whole studio is a green screen construction, and the only things that are real are the chairs, the wooden floor and of course the metal tables,’ Sam says in the video.
Sam emphasised that green is a ‘big no-no’, outlining that wearing any item of green clothing ‘would look very strange’.
If only the studio had realised a white top would also cause mayhem too!

In the coming months, Louise Minchin is set to depart from BBC Breakfast after 20 years on the programme.
There have been calls for Sam to take her place on the show, with one person tweeting: ‘‘A new star has been born on #bbcolympics. @SamanthaQuek a new career on #bbcbreakfast.’
BBC’s Olympics Breakfast is airing every day from 6am on BBC One.
