“Still Have a Loss of Smell”: Coco Gauff on Her Recent Recovery From COVID-19

American teenager Coco Gauff has been one of the most noticeable players in recent years. The teenager has managed to impress one and all with her splendid performances. She has even knocked out players like Venus Williams and Naomi Osaka at the Grand Slam events. 

Recently, Coco Gauff became the latest victim to be hit by the coronavirus. However, she has now recovered from it. She did go on to say that although she was affected by the virus, the symptoms felt by her were relatively mild. Having said that, she still does have a loss of smell.

The 17-year-old teenager spoke on this topic and stated, “I’m just happy that I didn’t have really many symptoms. I was pretty much asymptomatic, I still have a loss of smell, but other than that, A-OK.”

Coco Gauff and her brilliant clay season

This season, Gauff began by competing in Melbourne and ended up losing in the second round. After that, she had an impressive clay season, reaching the semifinal of the WTA 1000 event in Rome. Later, she went to the French Open and came as far as the quarterfinal. It was her best performance in a Grand Slam event.

Following that, she competed at the Wimbledon Championships, making it to the second week, before going down to former champion Angelique Kerber in the fourth round.

Now that Gauff has recovered from the virus, she will be seen competing against Victoria Azarenka in her opening-round match in Montreal. It’ll be great to watch the youngster return on Tour.
