Duncan James has admitted he is expecting to receive online abuse when he takes part in Celeb Masterchef.

The 43-year-old Blue singer said he has been subjected to vile homophobic abuse from trolls online, and now is expecting more negativity because he had Botox and gained a ‘bit more weight’.

He called for tighter social media control as he prepares for the reaction to his upcoming Celebrity Masterchef appearance.

When asked about the homophobic abuse he had received online during an appearance on Good Morning Britain, Duncan said: ‘It’s terrible actually.

‘Probably after MasterChef I’m gonna get a load of abuse because I had a bit more weight on there, and had a bit of Botox before I went in.’

He added: ‘So I have got a bit of the old eyebrow thing going on because it hadn’t settled. So one thing I’ve learned is, never go on national television with fresh Botox!’

Duncan, who came out as gay in 2012, has a 16-year-old daughter, Tianie-Finn James, with child with his ex-girlfriend Claire Grainger. The singer said that social media trolling was something she had grown up with her whole life, and it needed to change.

‘Online trolling is disgusting. Personally I believe that verification is needed [to have a social media account]. If you are going to say something you’ll have to own what you say… If you went on television and said it you’d get crucified – something has to change!
