‘I Am Finishing My Fights’- Vicente Luque Calls Out Kamaru Usman After Finishing Michael Chiesa in Round 1 at UFC 265
Vicente Luque earned a first-round submission win over Michael Chiesa in the UFC 265 pay-per-view. Chiesa showed some good movement early and even managed to take Luque down and get his back. It looked like the former TUF winner almost managed to secure a submission of his own.
But, ‘The Silent Assassin’ defended well and managed to lock a nasty D’Arce choke. Chiesa was forced to tap and Luque has now won two of his last fights via submission having bettered Tyron Woodley in his last fight in the same way. Luque proceeded to call out his former teammate and the UFC welterweight champion, Kamaru Usman in his Octagon interview.

“Hey, I wanna say something to Kamaru Usman, my man my friend. But, he asked welterweights to show something. I think I have been showing. I am finishing my fights. I am not the kind of guy that make boring fights. I come in here I put my heart out and I look to win,” said Luque.
“And if I lose man, people know they are gonna be in trouble even so. I thin Kamaru, after you get past Colby, I believe you are gonna get past him. I think it’s out time, I am the only guy guy up there you haven’t fought yet. Let’s go,” he added.
Luque has been on a phenomenal run in the welterweight division for a considerable amount of time. And after tonight’s performance, it’s almost impossible to ignore his body of work in the division. So, it’s understandable why he finally wants his shot at the title.
Kamaru Usman responds to Vicente Luque
Usman is set to defend his title against Colby Covington next at UFC 268 in November. This will be a rematch between the duo. However, ‘The Nigerian Nightmare’ kept a close eye on as two top contenders of his division clashed.

But, Usman needs to successfully defend against ‘Chaos’ first. If the champion manages to win, then a fight against Luque next certainly makes sense and it’s something fans would love to see.
