Ellen DeGeneres is seen tearfully thanking viewers for nearly 20 years of her show in the teaser trailer for her 19th and final season.

The Ellen DeGeneres Show has been a flagship daytime show across US television screens since 2003, with the popular host, 63, welcoming stars including Julia Roberts, Sandra Bullock and Justin Timberlake, all of who feature in the trailer for her farewell season.

As the trailer flicks though memorable moments on the show, it also shares staggering stats including its 4,000 celebrity guests and the colossal $450,000,000 that’s been given away to deserving audience members and guests.

Grasping a tissue in her hand near the end of the trailer, Ellen addresses the studio audience, declaring emotionally: ‘You’ve changed my life.’

The show will return for its 19th and final season on Monday, September 13, before wrapping for good in March 2022.

Enduring segments on the programme include Burning Questions, where Ellen grills celebrities sitting in front of a buzzer with often-embarrassing questions, and Ellen’s Dance Dare, which Emma Stone, Zac Efron and Taylor Swift have all taken on.

Despite the enduring popularity of its host, the show has been somewhat tainted, with declining viewership figures, since appearing in the headlines for all the wrong reasons last year after former staffers and some current employees made allegations of a ‘toxic’ work environment behind the scenes.

After an internal investigation, Ellen apologised to her crew at the start of the talk show’s 18th season last year, and incentives were provided to make the set a more positive space.

However, the host then decided to axe her show for good, having been driven by ‘instinct’.

Explaining her decision in a monologue in May, Ellen explained: ‘You may wonder why I’ve decided to end after 19 seasons. The truth is, I always trust my instincts.

‘My instinct told me it’s time. As a comedian, I’ve always understood the importance of… timing.

‘In all seriousness, I truly have felt like next season was the right time to end this amazing chapter.’

The Ellen DeGeneres Show will premiere its final season on Monday, September 13.
