Wizards’ Spencer Dinwiddie Accuses Three NBA Teams Including Lakers for Tampering and Clears Himself Off

The NBA off-season 2021 has been extraordinary in terms of mega signings, starry trades, and ideal swaps. One of the franchises that took the most out of this time are the Washington Wizards. They have two NBA champions in the former Lakers to help Bradley Beal drag the DC unit deeper into the playoffs.

But one other signing that made them even stronger is that of point guard Spencer Dinwiddie. The former Brooklyn Nets player is all set to debut for the third franchise in his eighth NBA season. However, with the allegations of tampering swirling around the league, should his trade also go under the scanner?

Serious allegations on Lakers and other mega NBA franchises

In a recent interview, an interviewer asked Spencer Dinwiddie if he exchanged words with Bradley Beal prior to the free agency. The 28-YO quickly cleared himself off any such act as he expressed, “Before free agency would be tampering bro. What you talking about?”

Notably, Spencer came to the Wizards via a sign-and-trade that involved five NBA teams in Wizards, Nets, Lakers, Pacers, and Spurs. This deal surely made the Wizards lose Russell Westbrook, but they gained enough in return to out-balance that loss. 

“Before free agency would be tampering bro. What you talking about? Listen, the Lakers, Toronto, Heat… They’re the ones that are tampering. No tampering here.”

The 6’5” point guard further added, “Listen, the Lakers, Toronto, Heat… They’re the ones that are tampering. No tampering here.”

That is some serious allegation that he very casually made, given everything that is going around the league. Everyone knows how teams like Chicago Bulls and Miami Heat are already facing the investigation to find if they started negotiations before the free-agency window.

Spencer Dinwiddie’s unique contract with the Wizards

The Wizards now have a big man in Montrezl Harrell, promising talent in Aaron Holiday, the draft rights to Isaiah Todd, and a very deep unit. But something that makes their recent signing rather hysterical is the contract terms of Spencer Dinwiddie.

The former Nets player is set to receive a $1.5 million incentive if he plays 50+ games in the upcoming 2021-22 season. That makes all the sense given his recent history with injuries and missing out on an entire year of play. However, the second part of the contract is rather crazy that adds $1 to his pocket if he wins a championship.
