James Corden was forced to self-isolate after a member of crew on his new Amazon series Mammals tested positive for Covid.

Production on the six-part comedy, which also stars The Shape Of Water’s Sally Hawkins, came to a halt last month just weeks after filming had begun in London and Cornwall.

According to reports, Gavin & Stacey star Corden had to go into isolation for a week, alongside fellow cast and crew members.

‘This is a real blow for the production team, who have a tightly run schedule which now has to be ripped up and redrafted,’ an insider said.

‘Filming has now resumed but obviously the bosses are on tenterhooks waiting for another positive test result.’

The source added to The Sun: ‘They’re taking every precaution they can to make the set as safe as possible.’

Mammals is written by Jez Butterworth and also stars Filthy Rich’s Melia Kreiling, Humans’ Colin Morgan, Killing Eve’s Henry Lloyd-Hughes and Witless’s Samuel Anderson.

Plot details of the series remain firmly under wraps so far, but Butterworth has hinted that it’s about the challenges of marriage.

‘A good marriage is the most magical thing,’ he said. ‘In a world of eight billion, you’ve found the one who gets you, ignites your body and soul. Who allows you to grow and flourish.

‘Who gives you the spark, the confidence to become you. You’re also never going to have sex with anyone else, ever, and then you’re going to die, and be dead forever.’

Last week, it was reported that Corden has been offered a deal worth £7million by The Late Late Show bosses, in a bid to convince him to stay on the programme for two more years.

Corden has hosted the show since 2014, when he took over from Scottish comedian Craig Ferguson, however recently shared that he and his family are missing living in the UK.
