A gripping teaser for the highly-anticipated TV series Impeachment: American Crime Story sees Beanie Feldstein’s Monica Lewinsky and Sarah Paulson’s Linda Tripp come face to face.

The anthology drama’s latest season, which is set in 1995 in Washington DC, will revolve around the scandalous relationship between President Bill Clinton and 22-year-old intern Monica.

In the new sneak peek at the show, Monica, who is being played by Booksmart star Beanie, walks down a corridor in slow motion, as civil servant Linda, portrayed by Ratched actor Sarah, faces her on the opposite end of the hallway.

Linda, who in real life secretly recorded phone calls with Monica while talking about the president, strides with purpose while wearing a pantsuit, while Monica is dressed smartly in a skirt and jacket.

As the pair walk towards one another, images flash up on the walls of the White House, a close-up of Monica’s blue dress, a tape recorder and the sensational newspaper headlines of the day.

Dramatic music plays as Monica and Linda share a conversation about the affair, with Monica stating: ‘The president kissed me.’

‘Tell me everything,’ Linda says, while Monica adds: ‘I’m in love with him.’

As the conversation continues, Monica appears to become more anxious over the situation, asking: ‘Ok, what is happening?’

‘The blue dress, it would be smart to keep that, uncleaned, in your possession,’ Linda says, in reference to the infamous blue dress that Monica turned over to investigators during the scandal.

The teaser ends on a foreboding note, as a panic-stricken Monica states: ‘My life is over.’

Having been silhouetted as they walked down the corridor, Monica and Linda finally come into focus as they near one another, marking the first official look at them together in the series.

Last week, the first teaser for Impeachment: American Crime Story was released, teasing a private meeting between Monica and the president.

It’s based on Jeffrey Toobin’s 1999 book A Vast Conspiracy: The Real Story of the Sex Scandal That Nearly Brought Down a President and follows on from the previous American Crime Story seasons The People v. O. J. Simpson and The Assassination of Gianni Versace.

Impeachment: American Crime Story is set to premiere on Tuesday September 7 on FX in the US.
