Why was Tiger Woods’ prime unrivaled?
Even as per the PGA Tour stats, Woods was probably the best golfer to ever pick up the club in his prime. From August 15, 1999, to September 4, 2004, Woods was ranked No. 1 – retaining his position for 264 weeks. The prestigious no.1 ranking was once again occupied by Woods from 2005 to 2010, where he was the No. 1 for 281 weeks.

No one else on the table is even near Woods. Greg Norman follows Woods in third place, staying the world No. 1 for 96 weeks. Nick Faldo stands in fourth place with 81 weeks, all others not even reaching 70.

Woods remains amongst the five athletes to achieve a career Grand Slam, Woods was also the youngest to do it at 24. In 2001, Woods took home his Masters win, completing his Grand Slam. Till date, he remains the only player to win all four modern major championships in succession. He had 14 major title wins by 2014 and needed only 21 starts in his career to achieve the Grand Slam. Not only that, but Woods also won the Open Championship on his first attempt.
