The trailer for a new Netflix documentary series has shown the plight of police officers in India as they desperately try to track down a baby who has been kidnapped.

Crime Stories: India Detectives is a new TV series set to premiere on Netflix next month, which follows police in the city of Bangalore as they set about trying to solve four major crimes.

These crimes include someone alerting the police to a murder in their neighbour’s house and the case of a one-and-a-half-year-old girl called Ramya who has gone missing.

In the trailer, a police officer plasters a poster about the baby’s kidnapping on a wall, showing a photo of the youngster in case anyone has seen her.

In one clip, someone off-camera explains that due to the ‘thousands of CCTV cameras in Bangalore’, if the detectives were able to obtain a photo of a suspect, it would be ‘as good as catching him’.

One person stresses that the ‘bigger danger’ in the case of Ramya going missing ‘is what happens after the kidnap’, stating: ‘Her life is in danger.’

One of the police officers involved in the docu-series tells the camera that whenever he receives a call about a murder, ‘the only thing running through my head is how to get the accused’.

‘We want to know what exactly has happened and find out who did the crime and get justice to that soul,’ someone says in the trailer.

‘Being a policeman, I can solve other people’s problems. But some things are not in our hands.’

Near the end of the trailer, another individual is shown sticking another photo of Ramya to a wall, while a woman says during an interview that the case ‘has affected me very deeply’.

Various snapshots from the teaser show the police conducting their investigations, loading their guns, watching CCTV footage carefully and chasing after someone outside.

While scouring the CCTV footage, one clip shows someone getting onto a motorcycle and putting on a helmet – possibly pointing the police towards a suspect.

Another part of the trailer shows the police discovering that someone that they’re looking for has travelled to the Indian territory of Port Blair, to which there is a direct flight.

Whether any of the cases depicted in the series ended up being solved by the police remains to be seen in the upcoming episodes.

Season one of Crime Stories: India Detectives premieres on Netflix on Monday September 13.
