Kiss are set to return to Las Vegas for a residency at the end of the year for a string of festive performances.

The band, known for their painted faces and high heels, will start their shows on December 29 at Zappos Theatre at the Planet Hollywood hotel and casino.

The band – made up of Gene Simmons, Paul Stanley, Eric Singer and Tommy Thager – have sold more than 100million records worldwide and this will be their second Vegas residency.

They will play two nights in December, seven in January and three in February.

On returning to Sin City, bassist/vocalist Gene told Rolling Stone: ‘There are matters of the heart and then there are matters of the pocket and it’s nice when they both converge. So it’s a very nice payday.

‘They pay well and that’s reason enough. But it’s also easier for the band because you don’t have the wear and tear of traveling.’

On whether the production will match that of their touring shows, he added: ‘When we play stadiums around the world, those shows are like Transformers. You can make them as big as you want…

‘Anything that’s got a roof on it, we have to scale back the pyro or we’ll blow the roof off, literally. But we are planning lots of surprises for Vegas, which nobody’s seen yet. We’re in the middle of putting that together.’

Kiss were in the middle of their 150-date farewell tour that was due to finish in July this year.

However, after it was paused due to the coronavirus pandemic, it was extended to next year.

Appearing on LA radio station 95.5 KLOS to talk about the tour, Gene revealed he has no worry about coronavirus hurting the tour again.

He said he hoped the vaccine roll out around the world would ensure the safety of people attending the gigs, before exclaiming: ‘We’ve literally got 150 cities booked!’

It appears that the band is planning to play in some unique locations too as Gene went on to say: ‘You can’t imagine what we’ve got planned — like, beyond … I said, “No. We can really do that?” They said, “Yup. Yup.”

‘The political people said we can play there. And so there’s gonna be stuff that’s just gonna make you go, “That’s the coolest.”‘
