WWE Raw results, grades: Goldberg attacks Bobby Lashley and Randy Orton reunites with Riddle after betrayal

WWE continued its SummerSlam hype on Raw as Goldberg stood tall over Bobby Lashley days before their huge championship clash.

The WCW legend came out in the main event segment for a face to face with the All Mighty, although sparks didn’t fly in quite the same way as John Cena and Roman Reigns’ fiery exchange on SmackDown.

Still, there was plenty to talk about for the two men with less than a week until they fight over the WWE Title in Las Vegas, and Goldberg’s focus was on Lashley and MVP bringing his son Gage into the situation.

He introduced his boy – who was in attendance at the show – to the fans, and said he’s the reason the former world champion has returned as he wants to show him what his dad can do in the ring.

It’s the same thing Goldberg has been saying since he first came back a few years ago, but at least it fits the story being told this time round.

He was interrupted by Lashley and MVP before too long, with the latter on form as he insisted the heavyweight has gone from being a man of action to all talk because he fears the WWE Champion.

Goldberg branded that idea ‘bulls**t’, and made quick work of Bobby by dropping him with a spear to end the show.

While this was lacking the personal edge which made Cena and Reigns’ verbal jibes so shocking on Friday night, the two stars did well here to add a bit more of a spark heading into Saturday’s show.

It won’t be an all-time classic, but Goldberg’s match with Drew McIntyre at the Royal Rumble back in January is a perfect blueprint of how he can be a valuable asset in 2021.

Elias visits his own grave, RK-Bro reunite and Nikki A.S.H. loses twice

The night kicked off with Randy Orton addressing his attack on Riddle last week, insisting he doesn’t need friends and doesn’t owe anyone an explanation.

The Original Bro came out and suggested the Viper hit him with the RKO to each him how to do it properly, before AJ Styles and Omos came out to taunt their rivals.

It all led to a fantastic opening match between Riddle and Styles, with no Orton at ringside, and the giant proved the difference maker with a distraction that left the Bro open to a Styles Clash.

Up next, Nikki A.S.H. delivered another inspirational speech before coming up short against Rhea Ripley as Charlotte Flair added to their story on commentary.

After the bell, Nikki snapped and attacked the Queen, with both she and the Nightmare getting rid of their rival.

Drew McIntyre made pretty quick work of Veer and Shanky, meaning they’ll be banned from ringside at SummerSlam and Jinder Mahal will have to face his former 3MB teammate alone – while Drew will have his sword Angela with him.

John Morrison hosted MoistTV this week with The Miz as his guest as JoMo asked his friend if he was just pretending to be injured.

Damian Priest interrupted the show and exchanged insults with the A-Lister, who pointed out he’d never been injured before and accidentally revealed he was cleared before last week.

Morrison was upset by the development and suggested Miz should face the Archer of Infamy in a match, which the latter won with a Brogue Kick to send a message to Sheamus on commentary.

There was more going on with Alexa Bliss and Eva Marie this week, with the latter sending her protégé Doudrop to bring her Lilly – which she failed to do when she visited Alexa’s Playground.

We’ll be getting Eva and Alexa at SummerSlam, it seems.

Mustafa Ali seems to be warming to Mansoor (Picture: WWE)

Mustafa Ali and Mansoor also continued their blossoming friendship as the former RETRIBUTION leader helped his partner overcome Mace in a brief singles match.

Omos threatened Orton before they met in the ring, and they had a decent bout before Styles got caught attacking the Apex Predactor when he thought the referee wasn’t looking – but it resulted in a DQ.

The duo started beating down Randy until Riddle rushed down to save the day, which led to Orton revealing he’s earned his respect and RK-Bro is back – and gunning for the tag team titles at SummerSlam.

Elsewhere, Reggie retained the 24/7 Title in a funny skit in the park, and Elias visited his own grave.

We also saw Karrion Kross absolutely destroy Jeff Hardy in the exact kind of match he should have debuted in – but maybe too little, too late?

Finally, events earlier in the night led to Nikki and Rhea teaming up against Charlotte Flair and a mystery partner, which ended up being Nia Jax.

The in-ring action was good, with the Queen and Jax picking up the win.
