The Oval promises to deliver even more crazy antics from the White House in season two of BET’s hit series and we can’t wait.

The show – created by Tyler Perry – left fans desperate for more when the debut season ended with the ultimate of cliffhangers, and its stars Ed Quinn (President Hunter Franklin) and Kron Moore (First Lady Victoria Franklin) have promised the show amps up the drama in the new season.

Speaking exclusively to Metro.co.uk, Ed teased: ‘It literally picks up right where it left off and it just gets even crazier.

‘I was really proud of the show last year. Launching a new show is always hard… and I really felt about midway through the show that we really sort of found our lane.’

Teasing the upcoming series, he continued: ‘You really started to understand all of the characters and now we just build on that in season two.’

The series certainly has fun imagining what life is like with a group of questionable character in power in the White House, and Kron believes that’s a reason why the series has been such a hit with viewers.

The actress explained: ‘The show is total escapism. Last year was stranger than anything we’ve ever experienced so the opportunity to escape into another world and imagine what it might potentially possibly be like behind the closed doors of the White House is great.

‘We hope that it’s not as crazy as what we have as our family and our staff at the White House. But I think it’s just it’s an opportunity for people to escape into something and not have to think about the heaviness that we’ve just gone through.

The show certainly has some jaw-dropping scenes, to say the least, and Ed revealed he’s thankful that the wild actions of his character haven’t ruined his career so far.

He laughed: ‘Right off the bat, I thought the opening scene of the opening pilot was a career-ender for me. I’m sitting there just watching Twitter waiting for like the massacre.

‘But everyone was just like “Oh, we’re doing this. Oh, okay. Yeah, we’re coming out hot”… It’s just been like that all the way through.

‘The fans are so loyal and the fact that we’re the number one new show on cable speaks not just to the show, but also this empire that Tyler Perry has built. This incredible synergy of Tyler Perry coming home to BET. We just get to be the beneficiaries of that.’

Season 2 of The Oval premieres on BET on February 16.
