Melissa Joan Hart has revealed she has caught coronavirus, which she believes was from her child, despite being vaccinated.

The Sabrina The Teenage Witch star, 45, took to Instagram to urge her followers not to get lazy with wearing a mask despite having the vaccine.

She told her followers: ‘I got Covid. I am vaccinated and I got Covid, and it’s bad. It’s weighing on my chest, it’s hard to breathe.

‘One of my kids, I think, has it so far. I’m praying that the other ones are okay.’

Melissa, who shares sons Mason Walter, 15, Braydon Hart, 13, and Tucker McFadden, eight with husband Mark Wilkerson, revealed that her youngest child had continued to wear a mask all day as he was used to doing it from last year, but the rest of her kids were not required to wear one at school.

She continued: ‘I’m mad, really mad, because we tried and we took precautions and we cut our exposure by a lot but we got a little lazy.

‘And I think as a country we got lazy and I’m really mad that my kids didn’t have to wear masks at school. I’m pretty sure where this came from.’

She added: ‘I just really hope my husband and the other ones don’t get it, because if someone has to be taken to the hospital, I can’t go with them.

‘I’m just scared and sad, and disappointed in myself and some of our leaders and a lot of people including myself.’

The coronavirus vaccine helps reduce the risk of getting seriously ill or dying from Covid-19, though there is still a chance you can catch it or spread it despite being fully vaccinated.

While breakthrough cases are rare, symptoms are expected to be milder or asymptomatic compared to those who have not been vaccinated and the vaccine has been found to have prevented close to 100,000 deaths in the UK.

Melissa added: ‘I just wish I’d done better, so I’m asking you guys to do better. Protect your families. Protect your kids.

‘It’s not over yet. I hoped it was, but it’s not, so stay vigilant and stay safe.’
