CM Punk gives free ice cream bars to all AEW fans at Rampage comeback in Chicago
Better late than never – CM Punk has finally made his ice cream bars dream a reality.
The wrestling legend made a sensational return to the squared circle on AEW Rampage last night seven years after he left WWE, having distanced himself from the entire business for a long, long time.
However, Friday was a triumphant return as the Voice of the Voiceless enjoyed an emotional comeback in front of a packed hometown crowd in Chicago.
There were plenty of reasons to be cheerful, as Punk thrived on every level and even set up his first match back against Darby Allin at All Out on September 5.
Beyond that, though, was the former world champion delivered on an old promise going back to his WWE days when he called for ice cream bars but got ignored by bosses.
Ending his speech on air, he said: ‘One more thing. Seven years is an awful long time to wait for somebody. I appreciate everybody here who has waited.
‘So, on your way out of the United Center tonight, grab yourself a free ice cream bar on me!’
Fans did just that, with plenty sharing pictures and videos on social media of arena staff handing out the chilled treats to everyone as they left the building.

As well as being an incredibly kind gesture – Punk confirmed to reporters in a media call after the show that the generous act was all him – the aforementioned WWE link means there was a deeper meaning there too.
‘I used to do it all the time when I would go to Q&As at comic-cons and stuff like that,’ he explained. ‘I would bring people doughnuts, pizza.
‘And to me, these ice cream bars represent an idea, an idea that was gift-wrapped to people that didn’t bother to take the time to try and understand their audience. This is the easiest home run I’ve ever hit and this is a legit thank you.’
