The Golden Girls fans, your prayers have been answered, because every single episode of the classic sitcom will soon be available to watch on Disney Plus.

On Tuesday February 23, a new entertainment product is being launched on Disney Plus called Star, bringing with it an array of new film and TV titles including the likes of 24, Lost, Ugly Betty and Grey’s Anatomy.

In the lead-up to its launch, Disney unveiled some new information at a press conference about its streaming platform, which currently boasts more than 90 million subscribers.

For the past year, many people have been questioning when – or if – The Golden Girls would ever become a part of Disney Plus’ catalogue, having originally aired on NBC from 1985 to 1992.

Finally, they have their answer, as Sophia, Dorothy, Blanche and Rose will be making their way to Disney Plus in Europe by this summer.

While Disney was unable to provide an exact launch date, the company promised that fans will have every single episode of every single season of The Golden Girls at their disposal.

Earlier this year, one of the stars of the programme, Betty White, celebrated her 99th birthday.

The actor, who played Rose in the series, said that she was going to mark the occasion by ‘staying up as late as I want’.

‘Since I am turning 99, I can stay up as late as I want without asking permission!’ she jokingly said in a statement.

When asked by People what her advice was for a long life, the comedy legend said: ‘Having a sense of humour. Just looking at the positive side and not dwelling on the downside.

‘[It] takes up too much energy being negative. Also having a good agent who keeps me busy all the time.’

Throughout its run, The Golden Girls received an incredible number of accolades, including 11 Emmys, 68 Emmy Award nominations and four Golden Globes.

The show boasted 180 episodes across seven seasons.

The Golden Girls is currently available to rent on Amazon Prime Video.
