Chrissy Teigen feels she used her cookbook as a distraction from grieving for her son Jack.

The model shared she has been ‘feeling slightly down lately’ as she reflected on her life in New York and the early stages of her relationship with husband John Legend.

The couple sadly lost Jack during pregnancy last year, documenting their heartbreak in a series of powerful photos on social media. They have also since got matching tattoos of their late son’s name and planted a tree in the middle of their Beverly Hills home in his memory.

After going for dinner at one of their favourite eating spots Frank Restaurant at the weekend Chrissy recalled how, years ago, she liked to try everything on the menu and ‘day drink’ by herself before going shopping for hats.

It was also a time tinged with sadness, however, as she described herself then as ‘basically a functioning alcoholic’.

In a lengthy, heartfelt message on Instagram, the TV star shared: ‘Anyhowwwwww just reminiscing about New York a lot lately, when things were simple, thinking about all the stuff I’ve done and been through not just this year but in my life.

‘I’m slightly down lately. It kind of started when I was thinking of my book caption and typed out “my third baby is here!!”, as in cookbook, then realised my third baby will never be here.

‘Then I realised i threw myself into the book to not think of the real, actual third baby.

‘I don’t really feel like I fully processed jack and now that I don’t have the alcohol to numb it away, things are just…there, waiting to be acknowledged. I guess what I’m saying here is life is so fucking complicated. and get the lasagna??? wow this was a rollercoaster !!!!!’

Her words were accompanied by a relaxed photo of her and John laughing together at Frank Restaurant during dinner.

It has been a difficult period for Chrissy more recently as she lamented being part of the ‘cancel club’ after she publicly apologised for sending people hurtful messages online.
