Activision hid its own logo from Call Of Duty: Vanguard trailer after discrimination lawsuit

Whatever you thought of the Call Of Duty: Vanguard reveal last week it was missing one small detail: Activision’s name and logo.

Although the most detailed allegations of sexual harassment and discrimination at Activision Blizzard have been from the Blizzard side of things the whole company has been accused of fostering a toxic work atmosphere, which has affected share prices and created a lot of bad publicity for both publishing labels.

So bad, it seems, that Activision feel they themselves have become a liability and as a consequence you won’t find any mention of their name or logo in anything but the tinniest of small print from the new Call Of Duty: Vanguard trailer.

It took fans a while to notice the omission, but if you watch the end of the trailer, it shows only the Sledgehammer, Treyarch, and Beenox logos. The trailer also starts with the words ‘Call Of Duty presents…’ which has never happened before.

Surprisingly, Activision has acknowledged the change, releasing the following statement to website Charlie Intel:

‘Call Of Duty has continued to expand into an incredible universe of experiences. This was a creative choice that reflects how Vanguard represents the next major instalment in the franchise.’

Rather than fears of a customer boycott, Activision will be more worried that its own shareholders are angry at what the controversy has already cost them.

They told CEO Bobby Kotick that his initial comments did not ‘go nearly far enough’, which is much more likely to guarantee genuine change than any normal motivation.

The Activision logo is still being used on the Call Of Duty website though and it will be interesting to see whether it turns up in the next Warzone trailer.
