Everyone is recovering from the Love Island 2021 final, with Liam Reardon and Millie Court finally being crowned our winners.

The couple certainly haven’t had the smoothest journey, with Liam’s head being turned by Lillie Haynes in Casa Amor, before she returned to the main villa and told Millie everything.

However, they made it through the ups and downs to win the £50,000 cash prize between them – and have made history in the process.

As it turns out, they’re the first ever pair of bombshells to win the show.

This series began at the end of June, with Liam entering the villa on day four.

Meanwhile, Millie entered the villa a few days later, on day nine, making a splash alongside Lucinda Strafford.

Historically, fans have favoured original cast members, including Kem Cetinay and Amber Davies and Jack Fincham and Dani Dyer, but a couple of bombshells have made the cut.

In 2019, Amber Gill coupled up with Greg O’Shea after having her heart broken by Michael Griffiths when he brought back Joanna Chimonides from Casa Amor.

Meanwhile, the same year, Tommy Fury and Molly-Mae Hague came very close to becoming the first pair of bombshells to win.

While Tommy is often considered an original cast member, he and Curtis Pritchard were the first pair of bombshells to enter the villa in series five.

Millie and Liam were announced the winners last night after the islanders gave their declarations of love, with the couple clearly stunned.

Just before the pair were announced as the winners of the show, Liam took the opportunity to ask Millie to officially be his girlfriend

He said: ‘It’s been on my mind for a while, so…’

Liam – who claimed he hadn’t used a pen for six years as he wrote his declaration of love earlier in the episode – and Millie’s fellow islanders broke out into cheers as she said ‘yes’.

The pair placed first ahead of runners-up Chloe Burrows and Toby Aromolaran, as well as Faye Winter and Teddy Soares who finished in third place, and Kaz Kamwi and Tyler Cruickshank who finished fourth.

Love Island is available for catch-up on the ITV Hub.
