UFC Vegas 36 Suffers as Blow as Sergei Pavlovich Pulls Out of the Co-Main Event

The ongoing pandemic has meant that the UFC has had to make changes to its fight cards multiple times on short notice. Restrictions in traveling and other issues related to COVID-19 have plagued the promotion for the better part of the year now. UFC Vegas 36 takes place next weekend and has been hit by another fight cancellation. 

This time around it is the co-main event at UFC Vegas 36 that has been scrapped. Sergei Pavlovich was set to take on Tom Aspinall. Unfortunately, visa issues encountered by Pavlovich means he will not be able to make it to the fight. 

According to recent reports, the promotion is now eyeing Sergey Spivak as a replacement for Pavlovich against Aspinall. The fight card has been plagued with cancellations and this is the 11th known change the promotion has had to make to the fight card initially set to take place in London.

Tom Aspinall set to take on Serghei Spivac at UFC Vegas 36

Tom Aspinall’s performances have been nothing short of impressive thus far in the UFC. Aspinall made his debut in July 2020 with a T/KO win over Jake Collier. He then followed that up with another T/KO win over Alan Baudot three months later. 

In his most recent outing, Aspinall secured a submission win over long-time UFC veteran Andrei Arlovski earlier this year. Aspinall is a proven finisher and has secured 80% of his wins via T/KO. He will be aiming to keep that up this weekend regardless of who he takes on. 

Spivak has been in the UFC since May 2019. He is currently on an impressive three-fight win streak. ‘The Polar Bear’ secured wins against the likes of Carlos Felipe and Jared Vanderaa. In his most recent outing, he secured a unanimous decision win over Alexey Oleynik. Spivak is extremely dangerous on the ground and has secured close to 50% of his wins via submission. He will be aiming to extend his win streak against Aspinall to an impressive 4-0.
