Eamonn Holmes reached out to Alison Hammond during today’s This Morning as she was forced to drop out of the programme due to a mystery illness.
Today’s episode was supposed to be presented by Rochelle Humes and Alison Hammond, with Vernon Kay joining The Saturdays singer on Tuesday.
However, yesterday Vernon announced he tested positive for Covid and would subsequently be unable to front This Morning, while just hours later Alison also confirmed she was out for the count.
Opening Monday’s This Morning, after viewers were gutted to see Eamonn and his wife Ruth Langsford end their summer presenting run, he told viewers: ‘It was supposed to be Alison and Rochelle today, but Alison’s not well, so get well soon.
‘And just when you thought you got rid of me after seven weeks, like a bad penny, I turn up again.’
The TV legend confirmed he was swooping in to save the day yesterday, posting: ‘But just when u thought you’d got rid of me …. sickness with @AlisonHammond and @vernonkay means I’m off the bench.

‘Get well soon to them but I have my Boots on and I’m ready to play…
‘Monday and Tues line up is now myself and Rochelle Humes. Hope you can join us.’
Vernon told The Sun he was ‘absolutely gutted’ to be missing out on presenting This Morning.
‘Nor [can I] do Radio 2 guest hosting and Steve Wright’s cover, two iconic shows which I’ve been a fan of for decades,’ he added.
This Morning airs weekdays at 10am on ITV.
