Cheryl’s brother lives in tent ‘surrounded by bottles of urine’ as he’s forced to beg on the streets: ‘I shouldn’t be here’

Cheryl’s brother Andrew Tweedy has detailed his recent struggles which have left him living on the streets in a tent he shares, despite reportedly previously receiving help from his famous sibling.

Forty-one-year-old Tweedy revealed he was forced to beg on the streets in a town in North England after losing his job and the subsequent breakdown of a relationship.

According to Tweedy, he’s been begging for three months and claims his family hasn’t contacted him. However, he insists he doesn’t blame his sister, who is estimated to be worth £35million, and ‘probably doesn’t know’ he’s on the streets.

Tweedy – who says he has not spoken to Cheryl, who reportedly offered him £20,00 for rehab in the past, for years – was seen in pictures downing a tin of alcohol and cooking food on a portable barbeque as he spoke about his current situation.

He told The Sun: ‘This is what I’m f***ing living like. I’ve been begging here for more than three months and it’s something that has really broken my heart.

‘I’ve got so much f***ing pride. With the family I’ve got, I shouldn’t be here. It’s horrible.

‘None of them have contacted me. Even though Cheryl’s not helping me, she’s still my family. She probably won’t even know I’m on the streets. I don’t blame her at all. This is the lowest I’ve ever been.’

Tweedy shares a tent with another man he met on the streets, and, according to the publication sleeps alongside bottles of urine and empty cans of beer.

He explained he wound up homeless after the breakdown of his relationship and losing his job, while it’s reported he’s waiting for temporary council accommodation.

He said: ‘I was grafting in work for two years, scaffolding and merchandising. Then things fell through with the partner I was living with.’

In the past, Cheryl’s brother has battled drink and drug abuse, and has been in and out of jail. He was put behind bars for six years in 2011 for an armed robbery on a Post Office, while in 2005, he was sentenced to four years in prison over a mugging.

He was previously placed in a Young Offender Institution in 1996 for the stabbing of two students in a street fight. Tweedy served three years before getting out on parole.

While Cheryl has never publicly addressed her brother’s troubles, speaking from prison in 2008, Tweedy told the Sunday Mirror his sister wanted to help him and had visited.

He said: ‘Cheryl wants to help me – but I’m too far gone. I know I’m breaking her heart, but I’m not strong enough to sort myself out.

‘It tears me up to think I’m causing my little sister so much pain. I’ve told Cheryl she should be ashamed of me, but she says she loves me and she’ll never give up on me.’
