Rapper Not3s has recalled how he was forced to record his first child’s birth on FaceTime after missing the life-changing event due to lockdown rules.
The My Lover hitmaker announced he had welcomed a baby boy with his ex-girlfriend, model Aliyah Raey, in February this year.
It came just weeks after Not3s, 23, addressed claims that he cheated on Aliyah during her pregnancy, admitting that he ‘slipped up’.
With Aliyah spending the last days of her pregnancy in America where she is from, it meant Not3s was stuck in the UK amid the tight travel restrictions which meant he wasn’t able to jet over to the US when she went into labour.
Recalling the drama, the rapper told Metro.co.uk to mark the release of his debut album 3 Th3 Album: ‘Being a dad has defo opened up my eyes in a lot of ways, just from seeing how he was born because I was in the UK and they were abroad. I couldn’t get out because of the whole quarantine, Covid stuff but I was on FaceTime with them the whole time so I screen recorded the whole thing.
‘Seeing the birth was epic and the fact I’m able to create this, for me I first felt like this alien, it’s something so completely foreign for me yet that’s so connected to me.’
He added: ‘It was deep because I’ve never been through anything like that before.’
Recalling the moment he finally met his first child, Not3s said: ‘It was a beautiful feeling being with him, having him lie on my heart and listen to my heartbeat and falling asleep was good. It was different.’
Confronting the cheating allegations in November 2020, the rapper admitted to spending time with his ex-girlfriend, a YouTuber named Yasmin.
He tweeted at the time: ‘I slipped up by entertaining the bs in the first place and I take full responsibility for that. I was selfish and didn’t take the time to think fully.
‘Regardless of what may happen between us, Aliyah is carrying my baby and my actions weren’t ok.’
Not3s has now revealed that he removed himself from social media as the backlash mounted and left his team to control his accounts.
‘Just to make sure I wasn’t seeing it and have to deal with it,’ he said, adding: ‘Most people would go through that in private but again, all eyes on you.
‘Saying that [All Eyes On You], Tupac was going through so much and he died at such a young age but nobody deeps it because everyone just thinks he was a grown man but he really wasn’t. He was such a baby and he had to deal with all the things he had to deal with – rest in peace, Tupac.
‘I deep certain things now and I don’t let it bother me because other people have been through so much and haven’t made it past 18. That’s real life stuff.
‘So I don’t care about everything else, as long as my son is well, I’m well.’
Not3s’ debut album, 3 The3 Album, is out now.
