The actress about to star as Meghan Markle in the divisive biopic Escaping The Palace has stressed that despite the criticism surrounding the Lifetime TV movie, she’s approached the role with ‘care’.
Sydney Morton plays the Duchess of Sussex alongside Jordan Dean as Prince Harry in the film which follows the couple as they distanced themselves from Buckingham Palace.
A trailer revealed the film will re-enact that bombshell Oprah Winfrey interview and dramatises the moment Meghan miscarried.
However, Morton is still adamant that she ‘felt a responsibility to be respectful’.
Speaking to Newsweek, the star said: ‘Playing Meghan, because she is a living breathing person and I’m playing her pretty much right now in her life, I definitely felt a responsibility to be respectful and very grounded and make her a three-dimensional person and not portray her as this tabloid cartoon.
‘I think that it’s a different thing when you’re playing someone who is alive and experiencing things in real-time you definitely want to approach it with care.’

Trailers for the film have sparked a range of responses from ‘WTF is this?’ to ‘I will do everything in my Power not to watch.’
On her self-titled ITV show, Lorraine Kelly said on Thursday: ‘That looks hideous.’
‘As if their life’s not insane enough, they’ve got that! What a blinking shame,’ she added.
More: Prince Harry
In the official synopsis for the movie, teases that Harry & Meghan: Escaping the Palace ‘will also reveal the private family feuds between Will and Harry, Kate and Meghan, and Harry with Will and Charles, that lead to the ultimate break from the royal ties’.
Sounds respectful…
