Here’s Why Dustin Johnson Is the King of the Tour Championship

Dustin Johnson is one of the prominent golfers on the PGA Tour, and he has won two major events in his career so far. He is one of the best players when it comes to iron play. Moreover, last year, he was in sublime form as he won the FedExCup championship and even the Masters. 

He was indomitable last year. But sadly, this season, he hasn’t been able to replicate the same success. However, he still managed to qualify for the FedExCup final and has created a record as well. 

Dustin Johnson creates a record by qualifying for the Tour Championship

The defending champion Dustin Johnson has managed to remain in the top 30 of the FedExCup rankings and has qualified for the Tour Championship. It is interesting to note that DJ has qualified for the Tour Championship in each of the last 13 seasons – the longest streak in the FedExCup era. 

Dustin, who turned pro in 2008, has qualified for the Tour Championship each year since 2009. This record shows his consistency throughout the year, as only the top 30 players from the FedExCup rankings make it to the event. Moreover, he is the only player with two digits in this record.

Apart from being part of the 13 Tour Championship, Dustin Johnson has even won the event once last year at the East Lake Golf Club. He remained -21 for the event and won the Championship by 3-strokes. He started this event with a score of -10 as he was at the top of the FedExCup rankings following the BMW Championship. However, this time around, he is slightly behind on the leaderboard. Hence, he will start his event with a score of -3. 

Moreover, six other players have streaks of five-plus years, with the nearest to DJ being 8. Here’s the list of all six players with a five-plus years streak.
