Sarah Michelle Gellar double masks on coffee run after addressing possibility of a Buffy reboot
Sarah Michelle Gellar was spotted taking no chances amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic as the savvy actress doubled up on masks during a coffee run this week.
The Buffy The Vampire Slayer star, 43, was seen with a blue surgical mask on under her cloth mask as she stepped out with a friend in Brentwood, California.
The pair chatted together as they grabbed their coffees to go, with Sarah balancing two in one hand on a paper tray.
The savvy actress made sure to double up on her coronavirus protection during the outing as cases remain high in California.
It comes after she addressed the prospect of a reboot of Buffy amid allegations from cast members about creator Joss Whedon’s behaviour on set.
Talks of a reboot have been around since at least 2018, with Joss being attached to the project as an executive producer.
Sarah told The Hollywood Reporter of the rumours: ‘I don’t have any part of it. I wasn’t a producer on that show.’
She added that she loves the character and Buffy’s story, adding: If there’s more story to be told, I think it’s interesting.
‘Our demons were the metaphors for the horrors of high school and adolescence, and I think that there’s definitely new horrors of adolescence. The idea of a chosen one would certainly [be] very interesting at this time.
‘I do think it’s tricky because we were already a reboot. So, I don’t know. I actually don’t know what’s happening with it. I think it’s amazing that so many people are still so passionate about her and her story.’
It comes after several stars of the series spoke out in support of Charisma Carpenter, who claimed Joss had ‘abused his power’ by making comments about her weight and ‘unceremoniously firing’ her after she gave birth, among other allegations.
