Fortnite Season 8 start date and what to expect
SEASON 7 of Fortnite is almost at an end, with Season 8 due to kick off next week.
Epic Games has teased the Fortnite: Operation Sky Fire event which will see players infiltrate the Mothership to transit IO’s last message to the invading Aliens.
The invasion is set to end after this weekend’s one-time event, but the Island could be left significantly altered by whatever transpires.
Fortnite leakers have also tipped some upcoming collaborations for the game, as well as the return of a familiar geometric face…
So let’s dive in to everything we know about Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 8 so far.
When does Fortnite Season 8 start?
While Epic Games hasn’t confirmed the Fortnite Season 8 start date, it’s very likely going to be Monday, September 13.
The Season 7 Battle Pass page indicates that the current Battle Pass will end on September 12.
So it follows that the new season will kick off on September 13, but of course, that’s subject to change.
For the moment though, it’s a pretty safe bet to assume that’s when Season 8 will start.

Fortnite Season 8 theme
None of this has been confirmed, of course, but leakers and dataminers are suggesting we’ll see a desert biome.
This could be in line with a post-apocalyptic Mad Max-style theme, or an Egyptian theme.
Fortnite leaker Hypex shared a desert loading screen that was spotted a few weeks ago, adding that four props were found in the files, called ‘Desert Cactus’. When overlapped, they’ll work in a similar way to the bouncy tires, launching players skyward.
The loading screen itself features a vehicle and character that wouldn’t look out place in Mad Max.
However, it could be that an Egyptian theme is on the way, with further file digging revealing more themed items. Hypex also shared info suggesting that a Mummy skin might be on the way.
Combined with the Pyramid POI, the leaks make a strong case for an Egyptian theme.
As well a new theme, the Island could be getting supersized with the possibility of a new mode. Just last month, Hypex tweeted some alleged upcoming locations and POIs possibly coming to Season 8.
“This map is BIG and it has many other landmarks & unfinished POIs, and it’s still in the works,” they said.
Fortnite skins and collaborations
As well as a possible Max Max or The Mummy collaboration, skins, or themes, there’s plenty of other tidbits suggesting what might be in store in the Fortnite skins department.
Once again, Hypex has dropped a tweet saying that Epic is working on another The Walking Dead collab. They guess that Negan, Rick or even both might make an appearance.
Meanwhile, a huge anime collaboration could be on the cards as well. FortniteBR reports that Naruto is inbound, while another Fortnite leaker, TweaBR, says a Dragon Ball Z crossover is also on the way.
Other rumours have been posted on a Reddit thread and back up the whispers (and hints from Epic CCO Donald Mustard) that Kevin the Cube is making a comeback.
It also alludes to the map overhaul, and what sounds like a Stranger Things-inspired Halloween theme or event called The Sideways.
The event will unleash monsters onto the Island, presumably just in time for Halloween.
That’s all of the rumours and tidbits on Fortnite Season 8 so far, but with around a week left of Season 7, there’s not long left to see what Epic has in store.
