“I Don’t Take Anybody’s Soul”: Novak Djokovic Responds to Andy Roddick’s Comments

With an impeccable start to day 8 of the US Open, star of the night, Novak Djokovic, set out on his quest for history. However, standing in his way was an American youngster who refused to give up. Putting his youthful energy on full display, Jenson Brooksby gave it his all in a thrilling round 4 clash, making life difficult for the World No. 1.

Given his stature and his remarkable run of form, Novak was the undisputed favorite for the win. However, what came following was beyond fans’ expectations. 20-year-old Jenson Brooksby had the fans on the edge of their seats as he outclassed Novak with a dominating start to the game. He toppled the Serbian giant, conquering the first-set 6-1, leaving fans in disbelief.

However, with a match on their hands, the world stayed glued to the action. Notably, Andy Roddick was leading social media, with his daily updates and cheeky banter.

Not only did the youngster win the first set, but he also won the crowd from thereon. However, even up against both an opponent and a packed stadium, writing off the World No. 1 would be a huge mistake. Passing a sheer test of his character, grit, and determination, the Serb began paving his comeback in the game.

As Novak put on a dominant masterclass display, Twitter was up in a frenzy. Commenting on his stupendous performance, fellow rival Andy Roddick had something cheeky to Tweet. He wrote, “First he takes your legs ……. Then he takes your soul.”

Now, post his emphatic win, Novak replied to the same. “Thanks, Andy, I take that as a compliment. Only the first part, the second part I don’t take anybody’s soul. Everyone has their soul, I don’t take anyone’s soul. So I appreciate everyone… but I will take your legs out for sure,” he said.

Novak put on a show, taking the game to Jenson’s half. With his authoritative tennis, he canceled out any chance of a comeback for the youngster. The final scoreline read  1-6, 6-3, 6-2, 6-2.
