Liverpool release new yellow and red third kit… as fans joke it looks like something out of McDonald’s
THE REDS revealed their third kit for the upcoming season on Wednesday morning – but it hasn’t been a huge hit with fans.
Nike drew inspiration for the design on the trim from flags on the Kop and Liverpool’s 1977 European Cup final win, although others have seen it differently.

And many fans have likened it to the colours of McDonald’s

The club also continued their history of using yellow in their away and third strips.
They haven’t used the colour since the 2014-15 season but yellow was a staple of the club’s away kits in the 1980’s.
And during the 1977 European Cup final win in Rome against Borussia Monchengladbach, Liverpool fans adorned the stands of the Stadio Olimpico with red and yellow flags.
And after their famous first European triumph the red and yellow flags stuck, and can still be seen on the Kop to this day.
But football fans on social media have seen the kit differently – instead liking it to a McDonalds uniform.
Twitter users have not been shy to take aim at the Reds’ newest strip, with one saying: “Liverpool’s third kit just needs a McDonald’s sponsor”

While another said: “That Liverpool 3rd kit is possibly THE worst kit I’ve seen for years, it looks like a McDonalds polo ffs.”
One user criticised the kit’s designer, saying: “That Liverpool third kit is abysmal, whoever designed that has had a mare.”
Another said: “My eyes gonna hurt seeing liverpool’s third kit on the pitch.”
Meanwhile a grateful Arsenal fan exclaimed: “Wtf have Nike dropped for Liverpool’s third kit, glad we’re with Adidas now.”
However some have admitted that they are in fact fans of the design.
One twitter user wrote: “Am I the only one who likes this liverpool third kit lmao?”
Another fumed: “Funny how many modern football fans have no concept of history.
“Whilst I disagree wholly with the idea of third kits, the amount of people mocking Liverpool’s as a “Ronald McDonald rip off” clearly have no idea that yellow used to be their away colours for a long time.”
The Liverpool third kit is available for pre-sale as of Wednesday morning and goes on sale on September 21 for those who disagree with the McDonalds resemblance.
