“I Was Like Jesus!” – Verstappen Reveals His Reaction to Vettel-Kubica F1 Battle at Zandvoort

Robert Kubica made a surprise return to Formula at the Dutch Grand Prix last weekend for Alfa Romeo. He deputized for Kimi Raikkonen, who tested positive after the Friday Practice sessions. Despite minimal running, the Polish driver was part of some battles on the track and one particular battle caught the eye of Max Verstappen.

Kubica defended his P15 against Aston Martin’s Sebastian Vettel for quite some time, but the German eventually got past him. But the Alfa Romeo driver mentioned he enjoyed fighting on the track with a competitive car.

The Alfa Romeo driver recalls his battle with Vettel in the Dutch GP

Robert Kubica stated that despite being on old tires and a slower car, he defended his position against Seb in Zandvoort. He also expresses his happiness to finally race in a competitive car since 2010.

” Yeah, for sure. I think I really raced in F1 was in 2010. So it’s really a long time ago. Of course, we are not racing in front but still managed to have nice battles, managed to defend well for more than a few laps against Seb who was on fresher tires.” said Kubica on racing in a competitive car.

Kubica’s defense against Vettel also impressed Red Bull driver Max Verstappen. He said,” I saw that! I was like, ‘Jesus! They are battling hard.”

I am looking forward to racing in Monza: Robert Kubica

As reported by Formula One, Kubica will race in Monza and Raikkonen has still not fully recorded from his Covid. The Pole mentioned he is looking forward to racing at the Italian Grand Prix very much.

” I am looking forward to racing in Monza, an incredible track in which I claimed my first podium, in 2006.” said Robert.

“Unlike Zandvoort, it is a track I know well and this will help, particularly since the Sprint Qualifying weekend format means we will be one practice session short. I am happy with what I did in Holland, and I can’t wait to help the team out one more time in Monza,” said Kubica.

The Pole will look to improve on his P15 at Zandvoort and will look to score some points with the Swiss team.
