Alan Wake Remastered Is Just the Beginning As Developers Confirm Great News

Alan Wake Remastered, a game announced at PlayStation Showcase will be the first game in a series of upcoming titles from Remedy Entertainment according to GamesBeat journalist Jeff Grubb. The remastered game follows the writer, Alan, and his journey following a car crash.

A PlayStation blog post about the title reveals more details about the game’s story. This includes the fact that Wake’s wife, Alice went missing as they ventured to the idyllic Bright Falls in Washington. Soon, Wake discovers a story called “Departure” which he cannot recall writing. It is a story about how “Bright Falls is taken over by a Dark Presence” and slowly turns into a reality.

Back when Remedy was acquired by Epic in March 2020, the developer was set to release two games. The first was to be a “AAA multi-platform game” while the second was to be a “smaller-scale” project. Thus, many fans have gone on to assume that both these installments will relate to the AW franchise.

Remedy’s plan for the Alan Wake franchise

During a Giant Bomb stream, Jeff Grubb explained “They’re planning an Alan Wake sequel. This is something I’ve talked about before… they are working with Epic Games on producing an Alan Wake 2, or at least it’s in the planning stages. So does that turn into anything concrete and real? I’m hopeful. I think so. I don’t imagine it will get derailed.”

In addition to this, he spoke about the feasibility of this project given what Remedy has on its plate. “Remedy is really busy. They’re super, super busy, so we’ll have to wait and see if that turns into anything soon or not. But yeah, Alan Wake Remastered is them taking back Alan Wake and saying, ‘hey, this is one of our key franchises, we want people to remember it’”, Grubb says.
