Potty council chiefs order gran to take down 5ft pirate flag in her garden

A GRAN says she feels like she was forced to walk the plank when she was ordered to take down her pirate flag.

Maria Lambert, 62, put up the Jolly Roger in her garden for her grandkids.

But shots were fired across the care worker’s bow when somebody complained to the council, which took action.

She was given a week to remove the 5ft flag as it “breaches advertising rules”.

Any flag can be flown in the UK, as long as it represents a country.

Maria, of Foulden, Norfolk, also flies a Union Jack, which does not break rules.

She said: “It’s not like it’s damaging anyone’s health.

“I have it up for fun. It is a laugh for the kids and it makes the garden look nice.”

Breckland council has since changed its mind and said the flag could stay.
